Bill Simmons is under the opinion that the Suns are quite possibly invincible. This scares me, as it should any other Suns fan in the world.

I have stated my thoughts about a team being underrated, but this just plain frightens me. I thought Bill Simmons had a personal vendetta against the Suns. I thought we were immortal in the underrated category, but now this die-hard Celtics fan is trying to sabotage the season by jumping on the bandwagon! BLAST!

But, he made some interesting points on which I would like to comment, mainly Shawn Marion and Amare Stoudemire.

First, I am glad that he recognized Shawn as one of the best players in the league. I remember his early years with the suns, when he could jump out of the gym and we debated whether or not he would be able to jump over a car. Without Shawn Marion, the Suns franchise would be in shambles. He has held together the team through tough times and now he is celebrating the good times. I fear for the chemistry of the team though, as Marion is forced to play third fiddle to Amare and Steve Nash. Although this is probably an accurate breakdown of how the players should be, I fear that Marion will catch the cold of Joe Johnson, think he is bigger than the team, and leave. He would never be the same player again and it would be terrible for anyone involved, including Marion. It takes 5.

On the note of Stoudemire, I found this to be my favorite comment from Simmons. A 7.5 on his own unintentional comedy scale. “I’d say he’s about 87 percent back, which makes him the second-best center alive (behind Yao) and a top-20 player”

Amare Stoudemire is 6′10″. That is EIGHT INCHES shorter than Yao. I love this Suns team because they run with their only seven footer coming in with the team up 20, with two minutes to play, only to launch threes for the crowds amusement. Amare is truly gifted. I am incredibly excited to follow him for the remainder of his career.

I hope Amare and Shawn become best friends, and unseparable after a Championship winning season.
