All-Star Game is Over, Now It’s Back to Work

By Matt Blake, January 25th, 2007 2:53 PM

Like everyone else, I saw the All-Star game and found myself enjoying it. Yanic Perreault proved he belonged as he scored two goals in the evening. I did respect the coaching staff with putting those out there that had two goals for the opportunity that one of them could get that elusive third goal past Cristobal Huet.

However, what saved the broadcast for me was the running commentary of Marty Turco as he made save after save.

How he was able to communicate with yammering Ed Olczyk and make the quality save was beyond me. I like Edzo – he just asked the wrong question at the wrong times – like when there was a rush of Eastern Conference players up the ice, he would ask whatever was on his mind. Timing is everything, eh?

I found myself laughing at the guy I'm not supposed to like that much, a goaltender in my division. Marty Turco is one of the best goalies out there and he has definitely given the Dallas Stars the chance to stay in playoff contention. The Stars needs their offense to return otherwise it will be a dog fight.

Speaking of Dogs, Fights, and Offense, the Coyotes travel again northward to the "No-Coke" Pepsi Center for the second meeting between these two clubs. Both franchises earned some much needed rest, and hopefully it will rejuvenate the Coyotes to continue their winning ways.

Before the break, they ended on a high note, winning the game against the Los Angeles Kings, but now the games become more and more critical.

Just two games under .500, the Coyotes can make some noise but it won't be easy. After the game with the Avalanche, they return home to face Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Jordan Staal of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Plus, they face the Anaheim Ducks and the Nashville Predators as well.
