I haven’t had too much time to review the 2007 signing day recruiting classes, but I did have enough time to dig up some information to get everyone else started. The fact that UofA and ASU had nearly identical rankings, surely should disappoint UofA fans and alumni. After all, ASU is coming off losing their head coach and a disappointing season. On the other hand, the Cats should have fared far better coming off of a .500 season in which the team could had easily gone 7-5 or 8-4 had a few things turned out the other way. Mike stoops has his team on the verge of a breakout season, but failed to score a 5 star recruit. The silver lining: the recruiting class still topped ASU’s and Mike Stoops previous recruits are now coming of age. You can find the Cats recruiting class here.
As for the Sun Devils. Coming off of a tumultuous season…a season in which they went to a bowl game, had a quarterback controversy, and tossed their head coach aside, the Sun Devils were able to keep pace with the Cats. Rivals.com ranks their recruiting class #44 in the nation and tout themselves as being “The only team in the nation to sign two top-20 quarterbacks (Chasen Stangel, No. 16 and Samson Szakacsy, No. 20).” The Devils didn’t do half bad given their circumstances and you can find their recruiting class here.

Both these teams though, if they want to compete in the long run need to start recruiting top 25 ranked classes. You can’t get beat out by schools like Mississippi State or Kansas State and establish your program as one of the best in the nation. As for the rest, I will leave it up to you…here you can find the “Rivals 100″
