Congratulations to Phoenix Suns point guard Marcus Banks for setting a Las Vegas Summer League record by scoring 42 points in a game. The only way we find this impressive is if we were to get in the way back machine to four years ago when you were a rookie Marcus. You basically are playing pick up basketball with a bunch of guys who won’t even been in the NBA this season.

You were sent there to prove you could run the Suns offense…….. 6 turnovers to 3 assists, yea that’s proving you can back up Nash and run the offense. Drop double digit assists and then we can talk impressive. Set the record for assists and or steals in a summer league game and you can make quotes like this one:

“It feels good, next year is going to be a big year for me. I know it . . . It’s just about getting the opportunity. It felt really good. I had a blast out there. It was really fun. That was the whole idea of playing summer league - get that feeling back.”

The only feeling you will be getting back is that numb feeling in your butt from riding the pine for another year if you can’t prove that you can show court vision and get your teammates involved.
