Cards Sign Brown to Record Deal

The Arizona Cardinals reached an agreement with first round pick Levi Brown Thursday. The offensive tackle out of Penn State was awarded a 6 year $62 million contract with around $18.1 million in guaranteed money. If Brown hits all the insentives on his contract it will make the deal the most lucrative in NFL history for an offensive line. I’m happy Brown is signed but I’m a little agitated with the amount he’ll be recieving. I’m not convinced he was worth a 5th pick or $62 million. I’m always going to be comparing him with Adrian Peterson who I felt was the better choice. I’m not giving up on Brown by any means, He hasn’t even played yet. Levi might be an all pro and I could be wrong and I hope I am. I just see a solid tackle that wasn’t worth what the Cardinals have invested in him.

Matt Leinart, Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, and Edgerrin James will all be making less than the offensive tackle that hasn’t played a game in this league. Joe Thomas who was picked 2 spots ahead of Brown in this years draft will be making $42 million over 5 years. So maybe you can see why I’m wondering how Levi got such a large contract.

Levi Brown might be worth every dollar and a pro bowler for years to come. Nobody hopes he is more than me, but for the moment he’s got a lot to prove.
