Amaré and Coach D’Antoni on KTAR620
Amaré is really having an intense off-season. During his interview on Gambo & Ash yesterday on KTAR 620 he told he’s already working out for next season, actually 3 times a day (for a total of 6 hours a day), plus he’s attending college class (geography) and should have his History degree in 8 off-seasons. At least I am sure he didn’t lose much time getting his new haircut.
By the way he’s planning to play 12 more years in the League, so don’t worry about the window of opportunity for the Suns.
STAT seemed very focused on getting better on and off the field. He decleared himself “very ready” to play for Team USA as well and looking forward to beat the Spurs, still the “team to beat” according to Amaré.
Of course he’s very positive about the upcoming season and he’s trying to work on his defense (staying out of foul trouble) to stay in games longer. This will be a very busy off-season for Suns players as Diaw will play for France, Leandro for Brasil and Raja should play for the Virgin Islands.
Later in the Show Gambo & Ash had a nice interview with Coach D’Antoni. Mike was as usual funny and enterteining but basically he told nothing more than what we already knew. He seems to always say the right words even as the Show hosts started the interview asking Coach how does he feel about game 5 of the Spurs series (”still bitter feelings” in case you wanna know).
Coach is happy to have Grant Hill, hopeful to have P.J. Brown off the bench and confirmed he would have loved to have KG in a Suns’ uniform but was not willing to trade Amaré.
The most interesting part of the interview was the discussion on next year’s rotation “I’d love to lay 12 guys but it’s not gonna happen” and how to keep the offense running efficiently without Steve Nash on the floor as coach stated he’s willing to have Leandro and Boris running the offense a little bit more.
