Despite the fact that ASU also won their first game last year over NAU, tonight’s resounding win over San Jose State was immensely different, and a bright light shines over the future of the Sun Devils this season. Last year’s season kick-off had a different feel. Fans left the stadium wondering how the Devils could handle the rest of the season when they could barely handle the lowly lumberjacks. But tonight had felt different. It was something we haven’t felt in a long time. Hope.

With a 45-3 victory over San Jose State, ASU showed that the team has come to play this season. With a great performance from Rudy Carpenter, and a fantastic showing of the running power of the Devils, the fans left the stadium tonight looking forward to the future. This team has a chance to go places, and although it wasn’t much, it could have been the start of something big.

We can only hope.
