In what is now going to be his third consecutive year, Yahoo NFL writer Mike Silver today came out and picked the Arizona Cardinals to win the NFC West. You can read his story by clicking on the link below.
I'm torn on this, as Silver also picked them to win in 2005 and 2006, but any time a national media guy is backing the Cardinal's, I'm all for it. He makes some very good points as to why they should be the team to beat in the NFC West, such as the great trio of receivers led by Anquan Boldin, the improved O-Line coached by Russ Grimm, some defensive playmakers ready to step forward and a vastly improved coaching staff led by first year coach Ken Whisenhunt.
Silver comments that any of the four teams in the NFC West could finish 6-10 or 10-6, it's that tough to call this year, which I totally agree with. I made my picks the other day and while I have the Cardinals at 7-9 due to the lack of depth and playmakers on defense, their schedule, offense and improved special teams play and coaching could easily have them at 10-6 at the end of the year if everything breaks right.
Anyways, interesting reading and a good take on Anquan Boldin.
