Jeremy Roenick Text Messages Paper To Say He Is Unretired

By Greg Esposito, September 5th, 2007 12:01 AM

OK so Jeremy Roenick really didn’t text message a paper to tell them in he unretired but he did reach an agreement to join the San Jose Sharks for the 2007-2008 NHL season. The announcement comes two months to the day after JR retired via text message to a Philadelphia Inquirer reporter .

We all knew it was too good to be true that JR was just going to go quietly into the night and his odd way of announcing his retirement just screamed a desire to make headlines. It should come as no surprise that he is coming back for another season as he sits just 5 goals from becoming only the third American to score 500 goals in NHL history.

Roenick will be paid $500,000 by the Sharks and claims he is coming back for a shot at the Stanley Cup and will not open his mouth at all.

Good luck with that JR you probably have a better chance of scoring a career high 54 goals this season then keeping away from making controversial statements. The only way you could accomplish that is if your jaw were broken like in Game 7 of the Coyotes Blues series many years ago.

Honestly though JR We love you but after last year we just hope you don’t embarrass yourself by not even reaching your 500th goal.
