Suns beat Jazz 124-101. Meaningless record now at 2-1
Leandro Barbosa couldn’t find his rhythm and had been struggling a bit over the first couple of preseason games…he seems to have found it now! Leandrinho scored 20 in 19 minutes of basketball last night as the Suns beat the Jazz 124-101 to improve to 2-1 in the preseason in front of the usual solid crowd at the US Airways Center. The Suns opened the 3rd quarter on a 22-9 run giving them a 30-point lead and then just cruised to the end.
With the exception of the absence of Amare this was as close as possible to a quasi-real game with Coach D’Antoni basically playing 9 guys and giving some of his starters long stints on the court.
Worthy of mention were Raja’s 24 points on 8-10 shooting including a great 5-6 from 3-point and Diaw playing 40 minutes, most of them up front, getting 11 rebounds as well. D.J. played 21 minutes, more or less like Banks. The Junior Straw looks better by the day while Tucker was used for the grand total of 8 minutes.
Suns will continue their preparation for the new season playing the Clippers at the Kobe Center on Thursday night.
