Flagstaff — Hockey season has arrived, as the Arizona Sundogs and defending CHL President’s Cup Champion Colorado Eagles entered game two of their opening weekend series Saturday night at Tim’s Toyota Center in Prescott Valley. The two teams equally staged a strong offensive, combining for 13 goals. Arizona’s Olivier Latendresse owned the ice with a four point performance while rookie goaltender Bill Zaniboni deflected 40 shots for a 7-6 win. The Sundogs head out on the road for their first game against CHL divisional opponent the Odessa Jackalopes on Tuesday night in Odessa, Texas…
Football in Northern Arizona heated up as junior defensive back Cyrus Igono nailed an interception, recovered a fumble and a blocked punt to help NAU post a 29-20 victory over Weber State at Stewart Stadium Saturday… Northern Arizona’s Volleyball team was also victorious this weekend, earning its first weekend road sweep in Big Sky Conference play since 2001.
NAU’s road trip scored a three-game win at Montana State by scores of 30-26, 30-13 and 30-17. The Lumberjacks have now won four of their last five matches, and stand at 10-10 overall which marks the most wins in four years with six regular-season matches left to play.
