It’s Barbosa doing magic as Suns beat Orlando 106-96.
(Photo: Fernando Medina/NBAE/Getty Images) The Phoenix Suns (5-2) completed their Southeast road trip with a 3-1 record, winning back to back games in Florida after losing in Atlanta early in the week with a convincing 106-96 win in Orlando. Winning three on the trip has to be considered a great success and I am really looking forward to next week as the Suns will play a couple of contenders in the Bulls and the Rockets.
Grant Hill returned to the place where he played the last few years, got booed by the home crowd, but played his part in the Suns win scoring 14 points and getting 8 rebounds, but it was Barbosa doing the real magic in Orlando. Leandro, starting for injured Raja, scored a career high 39 points on 15-26 shooting (8-for-13 from 3-point range), added 7 rebounds and 6 assists and was declared the “fastest man in the NBA” by Magic coach Van Gundy. Nash scored 19 and 11 assists to lead the Suns offense. Phoenix was ahead basically the whole game and showed some very good signs early on…ready to fight from the start.
Orlando got 33 points and 18 rebounds from Howard, while big signing R. Lewis only scored 7 on 3-for-14 shooting.
The Suns will now have a chance to rest a couple of days before hosting the Knicks on Tuesday night (7 PM).
