Ok, Lets Get It Over With
This one is short. It covers the 2nd and 3rd portion of the SJ series debacle. I would call it the Dead in an Aquarium series, except after rewatching the games I found it wasn’t such a horror story at all. More like a tailend melt down.
Both games saw each team battling hard through the first 2 periods. We just went on a mental shut down in the third period of each of those games. We completely lost our forecheckers. We completely forgot how to block shots not to mention how to pur a puck on the net. We completely lost our discipline and gave a team that needed no help, an even better chance at our goalies by being shorthanded repeatedly.

That being said, this is not the team we are used to seeing. Many fans went into a total tizzy. The lamentations were everywhere. (from WG sux and needs to be fired, put Sjo back in the press box, our goalies need to be in the AHL and of course the inevitable Jovo is killing our blue line). But gentle readers this series was not a total loss…
We managed to be at the nadir of our season when the opportunity came up to snag the goalie most of us have wanted all year. (I would thank the Sharks for helping us achieve this, except…they never thanked us for the beating we gave them last Xmas nor did they thank us for the subsequent winning streak that the demoralizing 8 - 0 whippin sent them on)
Now we need to put this series behind us. Start with a clean slate if you will. It was embarassing but it didn’t keep our boys from bouncing back hard in their very next game. We left the series 7 -10 - 0 but check back in a week or so, I think you will be mightily surprised by the new numbers for the season. Perhaps even some where well over the .500 mark we so jealously covet at the moment. Don promised us a thrilling ride, with lots of hills and dips, I think the man is delivering his promises.
Now on to the really neat part of the Sharks visit. It was our beloved fin person, BTinAZ’s backstage pass night. Someone, (who shall remain nameless) managed to snag our girl a 3ft advertising board featuring her beloved Pretty Patty, Big Joe and Cheech. Andie got it signed by all three players that night and her old school Marleau #14 jersey too. Marleau is definitely a fan’s dream (he recognised the old number on the jersey and signed it accordingly, while signing the poster with his new number 12). Gotta hand it to the guy, he has an eye for details. To top off a tremendous fan night for herself, our enterprising Andie pulled her Swedish National jersey from her bag o’ stuff and snagged Tjarnqvist and Tellqvist signatures on it to join Sjo and Forseberg’s sigs.
Not to be undone of course, I got some whomping good pics of our boys, dropped some pats/hugs of comfort and a few words of praise on them, snagged some signatures and a pic with not only my favorite Yotie but one w/ his brother Milan too. Not a bad way to end an otherwise horrible series eh? A true Coyotes fan takes her joy where she can find it.
