Suns beat Clippers 113-94 for 8th straight win
(Photo: Barry Gossage/NBAE/Getty Images) The Phoenix Suns won their eighth game in a row last night beating the Clippers 113-94. The 11-2 record matches the franchise record (set in 1980-81 and 2004-05) for the best start in a season.
With Raja back in the starting line-up for the Suns, despite the Clippers playing without Brand, Livingston, Maggette and Knight the first half was a good basketball game with two well-coached teams working hard.
L.A. got 18 points in the first half by an on fire “Sam I am” Cassell (26 in the end) and some solid play from Kaman (17 points and 14 rebounds in the game) as they led by as much as 9 points in the second quarter.
Phoenix played very good defense early on in the third quarter and really put the game out of reach for a tired Clippers’ team. With the Suns defense playing hard L.A. got out of options and the Suns proved too much for them anyway. The Suns worked hard on both side of the floor and it was really a team effort. A solid win.
STAT led all scorers with 29 (11 rebounds), Marion had 21 points, including three very nice dunks (check the highlights on those), 17 rebounds and 5 steals while Nash added 20 and Hill 19.
Steve Nash is shooting very well (.549 including .536 from 3-point) this season while leading the League in assists per game. Did I mention Steve is perfect from the free-throw line 36-of-36?
The Suns will now try to win nine in a row and beat the team record for the best start in their 40-year history Monday night (8:30 PM) in the Bay vs. the Warriors.
