Phoenix Suns Assistant Coach Jay HumphriesWe got a chance to catch up with Phoenix Suns assistant head coach Jay Humphries about chemistry, the rotation, Grant Hill and more……

(On how the team chemistry has developed in the first few weeks of the season): "I think it's coming along. We threw Grant Hill into the mix of guys who have been around together for awhile. And he's a starter and he's beginning to get familiar with our system. And getting Amaré (Stoudemire) back and Boris (Diaw) – we've had some injuries-but overall I think we're gelling pretty well. But we will have to step it up a level, for sure."

(On whether Suns fans can expect a larger rotation of players throughout the season): "I don't know how much larger the rotation could be. We'll manage minutes a lot better. I know Mike (D'Antoni) has a concern of that. And we'll probably go eight guys deep, nine in different occasions. But a lot of our rotations end up being game situations."

(On whether hearing critics say the Suns' style of play can't win a championship makes the coaching staff question the style):
"Not at all. This is my first year here but the last few years they've only been a play away from being in the championship. It's ironic that media outlets might say that when there's more and more teams every year going to a running style."

(On how the addition of Grant Hill has changed the complexion of the team):
"You're adding an all-star and a veteran. A guy with a lot of ability, he's getting a little bit older in age but has a fresh body because he's missed a lot of games. I think our training staff has done a great job in keeping him ready and keeping him loose and understanding the injuries he's had and working on them so they don't reoccur.

(On his approach to coaching a team with this much talent): "Every night, when you go to sleep as a coach, you think about what it is you can do to help everyone be the best player that they can be when it comes to minutes, chemistry and playing together. I know that is a deep thought of Mike's, because he wants to make sure he gets the best out of each player and he wants to know he's doing the best for each player. That's a tough one but you just work at it and hopefully you come up with the right formula.

(On how he works with each player on a daily basis to make sure they stay healthy physically and mentally over the course of a season):
"That's part coach's responsibility, but its part player's responsibility also. We have to point out things that we notice, but they have to be professional about what they do here and so there will be times when everyone is in and out, up and down, and it's our job to point it out. But ultimately it comes down to a player keeping themselves in shape, keeping themselves ready, because you never really know what's going to happen in a season or even in a game situation."
