Not only is Phoenix metro home to a huge number of top-notch resort spas but the West Valley area is sprinkled with affordable, quality day spas and studios that offer massage, body therapies, facials and beauty services. Among my favorite is Sibonne Day Spa in Glendale’s Arrowhead neighborhood. Not only are the owners among the most gracious, knowledgeable couple I’ve met, but they’ve created a tranquil spot with a caring and focused staff. They’re practically famous for their Warm Stone Massage but you can’t go wrong with any of their body treatments, facials and spa packages. The spa caters to both men and women so guys, don’t be shy.

Just across the street in Arrowhead’s new Citadelle plaza is Zethina Cosmetics & Skin Care. Makeup artist Zethina (yes, she goes by just her first name) is a celebrity in these parts and her cute-as-heck spa and boutique is the place for makeup lessons and applications as well as massage, skincare and body therapies. Her custom-blended mineral makeup is a secret among locals so trust me, stop by if you’re in need of a good foundation.

Speaking of locals, private beauty studios are were we go when we feel the need for the red carpet treatment. Catty corner to the Arrowhead Towne Center Mall is the Beauty Studios, home to independent stylists, skincare professionals, makeup artists and massage therapists in private suites. SkinOvations is our pick for skincare and waxing services, while Massage-ology is awesome for a soothing rubdown. And definitely check out The Monogram Salon Suites, just off the 101, which houses nearly 40 feel-good professionals in a Tuscan-style beauty mall. Each suite reflects the tastes of its owner, like DermaTherapy, a charming skin and makeup studio with soft lighting and homey accents and Pure Harmony Nail & Foot Spa, an energetic nail studio with vibrant orange walls and an east-west vibe.

If a darn good facial is what you’re after, we’ve got three beauts for you: Ageless Aesthetics, where the owner has spun a warm, uncluttered space for corrective skincare for both men and women. Glow Med Spa, a cozy medical spa for everything from bye-bye-wrinkle injections to massage. And Absolutely Chic Skin Care at Blitz Salon for custom facials and expert waxing.
