Suns win eighth straight vs Raptors 122-103. Now it’s Christmas with Kobe
(AP Photo/Roy Dabner) When we first saw the December ‘07 schedule a few months ago, we already knew that a game, at home against Toronto, in between road games in San Antonio and Dallas and a Christmas rendez-vous with Kobe could have been nothing more than the minor distraction it actually proved to be.
The game was the traditional pre-Christmas shooting festival in the first half (66-61 Suns after 24 minutes) while the Suns turned it up in the third quarter, taking a 98-79 lead in the period after a 20-8 run to put the game away for the Canadians.
It’s a bit unfair playing defense a couple of days before the Holidays. Both teams kindly obliged.
122-103 was the final score in a game marked by a career night from Chris Bosh (42 points, 22-of-24 from the free throw line). The Raptors got 15 points from Spanish point guard Calderon while “Mago” Bargnani added only 13.
Leandro Barbosa, starting in place of injured Raja Bell, led the Suns with 31 points (on a very good 7-of-10 from three point). Grant Hill scored 25 and STAT added 28 points (11-of-18 from the field) and 11 rebounds.
Steve Nash, while shooting just seven times in the game, had 16 assists - with zero turnover - including a of spectacular behind the back pass to an open Leandrinho (for three…..yes) late in the game.
All said and done it was just what everyone expected, a nice game the Suns dominated the way they usually do against “lesser” teams: Just Run ! Only seven TO in the game, 32 assists on 45 baskets and so on. “Our offense was good all night and we did a pretty good job” reported Coach D’Antoni in the end.
The Suns will now play on Tuesday (3 PM) in Los Angeles on national TV (Abc) , it is one of the most aticipated game of the year; the one we had been looking forward since the Schedule was released back in August.
“It is going to be tough” said Steve Nash after the game talking about the Christmas game in Los Angeles.
Christmas program: (1) wake up, (2) have huge unhealthy breakfast, (3) unwrap gifts, (4) have huger unhealthy lunch, (5) collapse on sofa, (6) it’s 3 PM, it’s game time GO SUNS !
Finally, I really hope all of the Suns Nation have a Wonderful Christmas. Stay with your friends and family, Kiss your girlfriend, Play, Eat and Have fun.
Yours truly, Steve Fan
