Suns end year with win no. 22 in Sacramento
(AP Photo/Steve Yeater) The ingredients for a Suns victory these days: A big game by Stoudemire (31 points, 17 rebound), a bunch of assists from Nash (15), a solid game by Marion (25 points, 10-of-16 from the field) and the usual scoring off the bench from Barbosa (22 points).
That was the game last night in Sacramento resulting in a 117-102 Phoenix win as the Suns just keep running over those “not so good” basketball teams.
The Kings, without their best players out due to injuries (Mike Bibby, Kevin Martin and Ron Artest), tried to stay in the game and did it for the most part. Sacramento was indeed just three points down (99-96) late in the game before the Suns went on a 12-0 run that basically closed the affair. Garcia scored 30 points while Salmons added 23 and Moore had 20 with 12 rebounds for the Kings.
Coach D’Antoni perfectly summed up the game: ”They were short handed and we took advantage of it. But they played hard and didn’t quit.”
Three-point shooting proved to be the difference in the game as the Suns shot a good 11-for-27 (40%) while the Kings were just 5-for-23 from beyond the arch.
The Suns continue to win games on the road (13-6) and end the 2007 portion of the season with a good 22-9 record and the most wins in the Western Conference.
Phoenix will open the new year with four consecutive home games hosting the Sonics on Thursday night (8:30 PM) on TNT.
Speaking of which, I really hope 2008 will be a happy and Sunny year for everyone.
Happy New Year Folks!
