The excitement is starting to build

We received a comment saying since it is almost Super Bowl, we should have a post every few hours. I’ve got to tell you for the first part of the week, it’s been relatively quiet around here- and I live two blocks from the stadium!

Wednesday the parties really started to kick off, though there were a brave few earlier in the week. We just hung out around Westgate ( www.westgateaz.com ), across the street from the stadium, and snooped around about which bars will be having private parties for Super Bowl Sunday, who would be at them, and which bars would be public. As far as we were able to find out, all but the Yard House have private parties, but the bottom half of Margaritaville and Bar Louie will be open to the public as well (Bar Louie during the game, not before).

Thursday, we got all dressed up and headed out to the Terrell Owens party at e4. We waited in the cold from 8:30 until about ten. During that time, Jerry Rice showed up along with a few others who walked the red carpet. It was pretty amazing to see him; very laid back cool guy!

We walked across the street while waiting for more to get going, to the Bud Bowl- which was surprisingly slow still around 10-10:30. Ever bar on the block was charging cover, so we walked back over to e4 to wait for more arrivals.

We finally decided to run to the bathroom, noticing someone was arriving on the red carpet- but the name said someone I didn’t recognize- so we kept going…only to find out that it was TO who had arrived and gone straight upstairs! We would not make very good paparazzi!

Unimpressed with what Scottsdale had to offer, we headed back the west side, to hang out again at Westgate. It’s an amazing place, there is no cover charge, and it was a much more laid back fan-type atmosphere!

Today, Friday Feb. 1, we headed back again to Westgate for lunch at the Yard House- there were a lot of people! Although parking was annoying, ( $10, and they only take cash with no atms nearby) once we got in and settled- it was beautiful! We sat on the patio, drinking and people watching. The Good Year Blimp is out and about now, as well as other helicopters, and sky writers! The energy is just good over here on the West side- and it’s building!

After lunch, we walked across the street to the NFL Experience set up on the University of Phoenix Stadium.  Since it was earlier in the day, and we had tickets, we were able to walk right in and take our time at all the exhibits- which was great because we had about 5 little ones with us.  They ran drills, threw the football, and went up on the ferris wheel- which was amazing, because you can see everything for miles!  (Pictures coming!)  By the time we had little ones in melt down mode, around 4pm, and were heading out- there were lines to get in stretching back to the street!  (Next time you get a chance to go- get your tickets beforehand and go earlier!)

More details from various parties we are going to and pictures of our experiences to come!

*Side note- we have some friends who are part of the crowd for the Tom Petty Halftime Show, who said it is going to be amazing, although they refused to share any details. There are in fact a few videos of the halftime show practice that have made their way to You Tube; however, we will not be sharing them, since the videos have upset a lot of people! lol
