Eric Byrnes Homers in Loss to Royals
(AP Photo/Chris Carlson)
Eric Byrnes hit his first spring homer today! It was a solo shot to lead off the third. He batted lead-off and played CF today, going 1-2 and a BB as the Diamondbacks lost to the Royals 8-7. We like him in CF and we know he likes it there, too. But all the jumping around the lineup — 3rd, 4th, 1st, and playing every other day, does not get him into the rhythm he needs.
As Opening Day gets closer, we look forward to prospects being dispatched to Prospectville–yeah, this means you, Tim Raines, Jr. and Alex Romero–so Byrnesie can get his time in. He’s scheduled to play tomorrow (batting 3rd) for his first back-to-back effort this spring. Rev it up, Byrnesie!
