I’m the father of nine month old twin boys. They’re amazing little kids, I couldn’t be more nuts about them if I tried. They were born in June, not long after the Suns were bounced from the playoffs by the Spurs and Commissioner Stern.
As with my other two children (yes, I have 1, 2, 3, FOUR kids,) my wife and I took our sweet time in naming them. In fact, with the boys, we didn’t choose their names until minutes before they were delivered.
Friends and family were constantly asking, “what are you going to name these boys?” When the Suns were still alive and kicking in the playoffs, I had a great answer for them.
Leandro and Nash.
If the Suns were to bring home a championship, I was going to name my boys after my two favorite Suns guards, my wife’s and mother’s opinion be damned.
You’re probably asking yourself, “why not Leandro and Steve? Nash isn’t a first name!” Pretty simple really. Leandro and Steve doesn’t have that same Tango and Cash-esque ring to it like Leandro and Nash do. It just sounds…cooler.
I know that’s just about certifiably insane but so am I during the Playoffs. We all are, right? If the Suns brought home that elusive championship, naming my kids Leandro and Nash would probably be the LEAST crazy thing I would do.
I don’t want to jinx anything and go on about how I would celebrate if it actually happened but let’s be honest here, the Suns have as good a chance as anyone of getting it done this year and arguably their best chance yet.
If that’s the case, you can bet there will be newborn Phoenicians with names like Leandro, Amare, Steve and Raja.
No one’s crazy enough to name their kid Shaquille.

If the Suns win a title, I am not going to be held responsible for my actions.
You don’t even need to ask…Steve if is a boy while Shaquila sounds perfect for a little girl.
