True Elation 2: D’Backs Pound Rox 8-2
You know it’s going to be a good day when Eric Byrnes reaches True Elation by the third inning. He singled in the first, then, in the third inning, he smacked a two-run homer that put the Diamondbacks up 3-1. After that, there was no looking back for the Snakes.
Not that they were done with 3 runs. Byrnesie reached on a walk in the fifth, and was driven home by an Orlando Hudson homer. In the 6th, Justin Upton hit a two-run homer.
Meanwhile, the Rockies had to tangle with Brandon Webb. They have been a bugaboo for Webb in the past, but not today. Webby went 8 innings, giving up only 2 runs, and walking 1 while striking out six. Qualls pitched the 9th, allowing one walk but no hits.
These intradivision wins are important. As is often said, you can’t win a division in April, but you can lose one. The D’Backs are setting up their season well by winning against their own divisional rivals.
