Davis, Nolan on Nagurski Watch List
Two Sun Devils found their names on the 2008 Bronco Nagurski Award Watch List. Junior defensive end Dexter Davis and senior safety Troy Nolan were among the 88 names listed for the award, which goes to the best defensive player in college football.
Davis, a Thunderbird High School product, registered 10.5 sacks in 2007, while earning All Pac-10 2nd Team honors. Nolan ranked 2nd in the Pac-10 last season with 6 interceptions, including 2 returned for touchdowns.
The 2008 Bronco Nagurski Award will be handed out December 7 in Charlotte. Last year’s winner was LSU defensive tackle Glen Dorsey, who was selected 5th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs in last month’s NFL Draft. The last Arizona State player to win the award was defensive end Terrell Suggs, who in 2002, set an NCAA single-season record with 24 quarterback sacks.
