Good Luck Chuck? Barkley Owes Vegas Casino $400,000
The News: According to the Associated Press former Phoenix Suns star Charles Barkley is in trouble with a Vegas casino.
A prosecutor familiar with the case says that Barkley will face possible felony charges if he neglects to repay his debt to Wynn Las Vegas. He will be given the opportunity to pay the debt before charges are officially filed.
The debt was accrued as a result of 4 different casino loans provided to Barkley in the amount of $100,000 on October 18th and 19th 2007.
Our Take: We are glad to see “The Round Mound of gambling debt Rebound” has learned from his previous mistakes.
In an interview with ESPN back in May of 2006 Barkley admitted that he had “probably lost $10 Million” to gambling. In the same article he states that gambling “..is a problem for me” and that his agent had been working with him so he’d be able to go out and gamble and have fun. (We’re no experts but wouldn’t it be better to go to family or a doctor for advice about gambling more so than your agent? Does he get a cut of your earnings?)
In the same article Barkley states:
“I gamble too much, I gamble for too much money,” he said. “And it’s something I have to address … I am addressing it, that would be the best way to explain it.”
Maybe the trip to the Wynn was therapy?
We know that gambling addictions are no laughing matter but Charles please get some real help for it. We know you “aren’t a role model” (Thank god because if we had $400,000 of debt from one weekend in Vegas we’d be paying it off the rest of your life) but you are still in the public eye.
Maybe Charles was talking about his impending legal issues when he said this:
