Porter, Not Jackson Or Rambis, First Interview For Suns
The News:
Steve Kerr and the Phoenix Suns pulled a fast one on Wednesday. As everyone was talking about Mark Jackson as being the first interview for the vacant coaching position Kerr spent the day with former Milwaukee Bucks head coach and current Pistons assistant Terry Porter according to the East Valley Tribune.
Porter spent the 2003-2005 seasons as the head coach of the Bucks where he accumulated a 71-93. He did however take the Bucks to their last playoff appearance in 2003-2004.
Other sources are also disputing that Kurt Rambis is a front runner for the Suns job. According to NBA sources he’s “not even on the radar”.
Our Take:
Although Porter hasn’t appeared on many people’s lists keep an eye on this situation as it develops. Kerr and Porter played together in 1999-2000 with the Spurs and that relationship alone means he’d probably be more willing to listen to Kerr than D’Antoni was.
