The Countdown: AZ Sports’ Worst Attitudes
Every Friday AzSportsHub.com will post a new feature called “The Countdown”. It will consist of anything and everything that could possibly be counted down in Arizona sports. Our first addition of The Countdown is, Arizona Sports’ Worst Attitudes of all time:
| The Countdown: AZ Sports’ Worst Attitudes | ||||
| RK | Name | COMMENT | ||
| 10 | Stephon Marbury | He makes the list for his odd behavior both here in Phoenix and in New York. He was shipped there for a reason (Thanks Isiah) | ||
| 9 | Denny Green | He wasn’t who we thought he was and we let him off the hook (thankfully). His closed door attitude and cutting off of the media (plus poor coaching) did him in and earned him a spot on the list. | ||
| 8 | Bill Bidwill | His attitude towards running the Cardinals, reluctance to embrace general NFL contract incentives and the fact that he has one winning season in his time in Arizona lands him on the list. | ||
| 7 | Simeon Rice | He was so unhappy in his time with the Cardinals that he once referred to Arizona as “the armpit of the NFL” (not that we can 100% disagree with him). How’s that for a bad attitude. | ||
| 6 | Matt Williams | His link to steroids in the Mitchell report and his overall attitude in his time in a D-backs uniform lands him on the list. | ||
| 5 | Randy Johnson | While he hasn’t confronted a cameraman in Arizona he has been harsh on the media and the fans (He would have been higher on the list but as of late he has changed his tune). | ||
| 4 | Lute Olson | Lute has been dismissive of the media and fans in his time in the Old Pueblo (case and point the way he handled his leave of absence or the way he handled Kevin O’Neill or Miles Simon). | ||
| 3 | Dirk Koetter | Like Lute, Dirk’s attitude towards the media and fans was one of a dismissive tone and his handling of his quarterback controversy didn’t help either. | ||
| 2 | Charles Barkley | Sir Charles forced his way out of the valley in a trade to the Rockets and there were always rumors that he had “things” that were more important than sleeping the night before big games. Oh did we mention he threw a guy through a window too? | ||
| 1 | Robert Horry | Horry is number 1 in “The Countdown” for his time here in Arizona and for his time playing against Arizona. In his short stint he was a malcontent and even threw a towel at his head coach Danny Ainge (not to mention he didn’t help the Suns win a championship like he has everywhere else). As an opponent Horry thugged his way to the top by slamming Steve Nash into the boards. | ||
