AzSportsHub Head-To-Head: Griffey Jr. vs. Upton
We know it’s probably a little premature to be comparing Justin Upton’s stats to those of the future hall of famer Ken Griffey Jr. but hey everyone else is doing it (and yes mom, if all the other media outlets were jumping off a bridge we probably would too).

Justin Upton | .318 | 7 | 3 | 6 | 21 | .401 | .523 |
| *The statistics listed for Ken Griffey Jr. are from the 1989 season (his first full season in the bigs). The sample size is the first 43 games he played in that season (the same number of games Upton has appeared in this year so far. | ||||||||
After taking a look at the statistics Justin Upton is on an impressive pace this season. While Griffey’s stats were impressive for the same time period Upton’s are slightly better (Although Griffey’s wasn’t as prone to mistakes in the field as Upton has been). The RBI total is the most impressive difference as Upton has 12 more than Griffey did in the same time span (Griffey did however play in a much worse lineup than Upton does).
It is a small sample size of stats but it will be interesting to see if Upton can continue to out pace Griffey this season.
