SI.com Grades D-Backs On Haren Deal

The Major League Baseball season is less than a third of the way done, pitchers have ten starts under their belts and division races haven’t even shaped up yet (hell Florida is home to two of the best clubs in baseball right now). So what better time than the present to grade the D-Backs’ front office on the Dan Haren trade right?
SI.com broke it down along, with the other top 9 deals from the hot stove league, and assigned each team involved in the trade a letter grade.
Here’s how they broke down the Haren deal:
2. Dan Haren and prospect Connor Robertson to Arizona; prospects Dana Eveland, Greg Smith, Carlos Gonzalez, Brett Anderson, Chris Carter and Aaron Cunningham to Oakland. Haren fits beautifully into the No. 2 slot behind ace Brandon Webb and Arizona still has many more fine young players left. Meanwhile, the A’s have to be thrilled with Eveland (4-3, 2.90) and Smith (2-4, 3.18). Big outfield prospect Gonzalez started strong (3, 16, .294 at Class AAA Sacramento) while left-hander Anderson is off to a slow start (5-4, 5.68 at Class A Stockton).
Grades: Diamondbacks: B+, Athletic’s: A-.
Who would have thought that Dana Eveland and Greg Smith would look like the gems in the deal for the A’s (Oh wait it is May they still have time to go all Russ Ortiz on the A’s).
Give this deal until the end of the season and the D-Backs will be looking pretty smart…although Carlos Gonzalez would look mighty nice in left field (or Carlos Quentin for that matter).
