Tracy Debuts in D'Backs Loss

By ByrnesBlogger1, May 26th, 2008 4:22 PM

Chad Tracy made his 2008 debut in today’s Diamondbacks loss to the Braves, 7-3. He went 1-4 (a single) from the cleanup hole. He left one runner on base and did not walk, strikeout or hit into a double play.

Tracy had microfracture surgery on his right knee in September 07. His rehab was slowed up by a blood clot in his leg that was discovered over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Tracy played first base. Manager Bob Melvin said he really wasn’t sure yet how often he was going to play. Conor Jackson is the regular first baseman and Mark Reynolds earned the regular slot at third after after Tracy’s injury. With the acquisition of Chris Burke, who can play third and learned first this spring, I wonder if Chad Tracy is now trade bait.

To make room on the roster, Robby Hammock was optioned to Tuscon.
