Thank You, Brandon Webb!
After two straight losses, Brandon Webb got back to his winning ways in a big way: a complete game shut out of the Washington Nationals that broke a five-game losing streak for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The final score was 4-0. And the runs came via the long ball as some recently slumping hitters seen to be finally emerging from their funks. Mark Reynolds hit 2 long balls, and Justin Upton and Chris Young hit one apiece.
Webby hit two batters, but otherwise showed masterful control by striking out 8 and walking none. The sinkerball ace also got 16 ground-ball outs. He is now the first pitcher in the majors to reach 10 wins.
