Arizona senator an local avid sports fan John McCain must have rooted on the Lakers this year, or at least he should have.
According to the Los Angeles Daily News over the last 40 years when the Lakers have gone to the NBA finals in a presidential election year a Republican has taken office (Richard Nixon in 1968 and 1972, Ronald Reagan in 1980 and 1984, George W.H. Bush in 1988 and George W. Bush 2000 and 2004).
For most Suns fan it would take a lot more than a shot at the oval office to get them to root for the Lakers. If it’s proven true it could hurt McCain in the election in his home state or at least the next time he’s at US Airways Center for a Suns game.
