Brandon Webb snapped a three game D’Backs losing streak and upped his own record to 11-2 in today’s 3-1 defeat of the Pirates. He also helped his own cause with an RBI single.

There really isn’t much more to say other than Brandon Webb has clearly shown himself to be the best pitcher in the majors so far this year. Not only is he piling up wins, but he’s doing it at critical times. This is the second time in a row he has been the “stopper” of a D’Back losing streak. I hope he doesn’t have to do that again any time soon, but it’s nice to know he can do it.

Thank you, to the D’Backs defense for not blowing it. You guys know that with Webb on the mound, defense is paramount.  This year has the look of a 20-win season for Webby; don’t throw it away. And remember that defense counts when Dan Haren, Randy Johnson, Doug Davis and Micah Owings are on the mound, too. If  you do, we ought to be all right!
