Congratulations, Ken Griffey Jr.
on your 600th career home run!
Junior joined a very elite group of hitters (Sosa, Mays, Ruth, Aaron and Bonds) in his first at bat in Dolphins Stadium, where the Reds eventually prevailed over the Marlins 9-4. He hit a 3-1 curveball off Mark Hendrickson. It looked like maybe 200 people were at the park, and they all applauded as the man many thought would be the one to pass Henry Aaron joined the 600 club. (Just kidding. The box said there were 16,003 there). Injuries have dictated otherwise, but 600 is still something special.
More on Griffey, Jr. here.
