Suns will have Energy this season
The Phoenix Suns were officially announced as an affiliate for the NBADL’s Iowa Energy replacing the Miami Heat. The Suns join the Chicago Bulls as an affiliate.
Steve Kerr was instrumental in the decision to work with the Iowa club and feels that the facilities and the organization are impressive as he revealed in an interview with the Des Moines Register.
“I met with (Energy ownership group member) Jerry Crawford during the season, and he expressed an interest in an affiliation,” Suns general manager Steve Kerr told The Des Moines Register in a telephone interview. “I ended up taking a trip to Des Moines, looking at the facility, meeting the ownership group, meeting (coach) Nick Nurse, and seeing the whole operation and being impressed.”
If Kerr and head coach Terry Porter have their way they won’t have to utilize the D-League for their draft picks this season.
