He’s BAAA-AAACK!
Eric Byrnes is off the disabled list!!!!
Yeah, I know. He went 0-5 batting leadoff, struck out with the bases loaded, and left a runner on third another time. But he hit two deep fly balls. and another not so deep. Getting the ball out of the infield is good, especially when Josh Beckett is pitching. (He struck out at the end against a reliever throwing 97). He just shouldn’t always try to loft the ball as if he were driving a golf ball–we know his golf game stinks–especially to left field on a windless night in Boston. A line drive off the Great Green Monster would have been greatly appreciated.
The important thing is that he’s back.
And the Diamondbacks beat the Red Sox 2-1 behind 7 shutout innings by Dan Haren.
Good luck to Kevin Youkilis who had to leave the game when he was struck below the right eye by a practice throw between innings. Yuck.
C’mon, Byrnesie, enough rehab! Start getting some hits!!!
