New Coyote Jokinen ripped by former team
The Miami Herald reports this morning that Olli Jokinen, the former Florida Panther captain, was the subject of an e-mail sent from a team executive to season ticket holders. The theme of the e-mail wasn’t very complementary to Jokinen.
Ryan Powers, an account exec with Sunrise Sports and Entertainment, spent the beginning of the e-mail discussing new Panthers Keith Ballard and Nick Boynton, who were acquired from the Phoenix Coyotes last week. And then he dug into Jokinen.
Olli is a great player, but he has shown no leadership or improvement, and he never came through for us when we needed him the most. As a stat, Jokinen scored 5 goals in the last 24 games, this is not acceptable for a Captain of an NHL organization. He played with little heart or passion and never had the determination to reach the playoffs. This move was done for one reason only, to make the postseason and return the passion and energy into this arena.
Ouch. Pretty rough on a guy who is the franchise’s all-time leading scorer. Anything to sell those season ticket packages though.
Olli, care to make a comment about Ryan Powers? Yeah, didn’t think so.
