Dan Haren named National League Pitcher of the Month for June

Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Dan Haren, who was 3-0 with a 1.32 ERA, has been named the National League Pitcher of the Month for June. The 27-year-old recorded 36 strikeouts in 41.0 innings of work in June, allowing six earned runs on 25 hits with eight walks. The 2007 A.L. All-Star threw at least 7.0 innings in five of six June starts, all quality starts, and has allowed just one run in his last 21.0 innings pitched, including 14.0 scoreless innings over his last two outings. The Pepperdine University product matched up with his former team, the Oakland Athletics on June 18th, hurling 7.0 innings, giving up one earned run and striking out eight batters. Haren is now 8-4 with a 2.85 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 17 starts this season.
Dan will receive a specially-designed trophy to commemorate his Pitcher of the Month performance.
