Charles Barkley the original blogger?
It would be easy to jump on the bandwagon and make fun of Charles Barkley for not knowing what a blog is but what’s the point?
Sure in an interview on TV he compared his golf game to a blog saying, “My game is like a blog”. He later admitted he had no clue what a blog “but it don’t sound good.”.
I’m pretty sure Chuck knows exactly what a blog is, just not by name. He is one of the original bloggers but he did it on air and to reporters.
What is blogging about?
Blogging is all about uncensored opinions on anything and everything in sports and life. It’s about revealing the truth and showing that athletes are not only fun to watch but human as well.
Hmm… yeah that pretty much sums up the round mound of rebound. Whether it was his controversial “I’m not a role model” Nike Commercial, his book “Who’s afraid of a large black man?”, or his statements to Sports Illustrated in 2002 that “Sports are a detriment to blacks, not a positive” Barkley is a blogger at heart.
I, for one, would love to see him pick up a keyboard and join the ranks of the bloggers. I think he’d probably offer some of the most interesting, entertaining and real takes the blogosphere has seen. Forget Deadspin, The Big Lead and the rest, OK maybe not us, Barkley would blow them out of the water (especially if he offered his list of gambling tips or the best bars to hang out at while making a run in the NBA playoffs).

So Chuck if you want to learn what a blog is and try your hand at it email me at gesposito@azsportshub.com. We have the domain and just need some of your great sports takes to fill it out. Who knows you might find that your blog would be significantly better than your golf game (which wouldn’t take much).
