Scott Bordow of the EVT and The Fan AM 1060 are both reporting that former ASU head coach Bruce Snyder, the architect of the 1996 Sun Devil Rose Bowl and Pac-10 Champion team, has been hospitalized in Tucson.

Friends close to Snyder and an ASU spokesman say that Snyder has cancer, but there are no specifics to what type of cancer he has or how far the disease has progressed.

Snyder compiled a 58-47 record between 1992 and 2000 at Arizona State. He was most recently seen publicly giving a stirring speech to begin this year's Pat's Run.
