It started out to be a promising day. Tony Clark was back in a D’Backs uniform. Eric Byrnes, though still unable to play, was back in the dugout. He addressed the press before the game and he has decided not to have surgery. (His injury was apparently on the borderline between needing surgery and not, and he got conflicting advice form doctors). Doug Davis had a rough start, giving up 3 runs in the first inning and lasting only 3 innings. But his team picked him up, scoring 4 the the bottom of the first. Eventually they were up 6-3 but they lost 8-7 in 11 innings. Since the start was not great, I can’t call the bullpen “Equal Opportunity Start Blowers,” but the bullpen gave it away.
Now the D’Backs and the Dodgers are tied for first, but both teams are 2 games under .500. Welcome back to the NL Worst.
