Cards’ Campbell in the fold one day before camp
Just one day before heading up the hill to Flagstaff for training camp ‘08, the Arizona Cardinals signed 2nd-round draft pick Calais Campbell, a 6 foot 8 defensive end from the University of Miami. Campbell registered 50 total tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 6 sacks for the Hurricanes. He signed a 4-year contract on Monday.
To make room for Campbell on the roster, the Cardinals waived defensive end Bo Schobel, who played in 2 games and had one tackle for the Cardinals last season.
Only first round pick Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, a cornerback out of Tennessee State, remains unsigned. The Cardinals will report for a team meeting Wednesday night in Flagstaff, and will begin workouts on Friday, with a morning practice at 9:05 and an afternoon session at 3:05. Their preseason opener is August 7th at University of Phoenix Stadium against the New Orleans Saints.
