Mike Nixon - Linebacker/Journalist?
Arizona State linebacker Mike Nixon has had an interesting sports career to say the least. He’s been a multi-sport high school star, a minor league baseball player, and a key contributor to a major college football program. That’s versatility. His next show of versatility though, might take the cake. This season Mike Nixon will become….a sportswriter?
With the launch of Sporting News Today, a digital form of the long-running magazine, Nixon has become one of 22 college football players from around the country who will be contributing articles on a semi-regular basis this season. Players will be describing the rigors of balancing an academic workload with the demands of major college football, in addition to other subjects. Other players who will be wearing their writing hat this year are Clemson QB Cullen Harper, Purdue QB Curtis Painter, Chase Daniel, quarterback at Missouri, Colorado Defensive Lineman George Hypolite, QB Pat White of West Virginia and Texas signal caller Colt McCoy.
