Devils picked 2nd in Pac-10 media poll
Pac-10 Media Day is unfolding today in Los Angeles, and to no one’s surprise, Southern California was picked by the conference media to win the conference. The Trojans of head coach Pete Carroll received 38 of 39 first place votes. Cal was the only other team to receive a first place vote, although they were tabbed to finish 4th.
Arizona State, coming off a 10-3 season, and an appearance in the Holiday Bowl, finished second in the polling. It is the highest predicted finish for the Sun Devils since they were picked to finish 2nd in 2003. Incidentally, they finished 5-7 overall and 2-6 in the conference, tied for 8th place with Stanford that season. Oregon, Cal and UCLA round out the top 5, followed by Oregon State, Arizona, Washington, Stanford and Washington State.
In case you’re wondering, the Pac-10 media has correctly predicted the conference champion the last 8 seasons.
