Better!

I really wasn’t expecting a sweep of the Cubs, so I am not disappointed about Game 3 of the series, though I wonder what would have happened but for Reed Johnson’s grand slam.

Micah Owings, who did not throw the grand slam pitch, but who set up the situation, is going to have to get used to the different preparations that a relief pitcher has to make, and quickly, because more five-run outings and he will join the ranks of the “Equal Opportunity Start Blowers.” I’m cutting him a little slack now because of the adjustment factor. But just a little.

Some good things happened. Veteran returnee Tony Clark homered and rookie Jamie D’Antona got a single in his first MLB plate appearance. Nothing like getting that first one under your belt in a hurry. We also got a homer from Chris Snyder. He’s all the way back from his injury.

Now it’s the Giants and I am expecting a sweep here. (And, yes, I’m going to the games, so you’ll hear from me about that later). It won’t be a gimme, though. I am especially looking forward to Saturday’s match-up between Brandon Webb and Tim Lincecum. If they both bring their “A” games, victory or defeat may come down to one pitch. I am generally not that big on pitchers’ duels, But when it’s the aces, well, I want to see them strut their stuff.

Haren v Sanchez tonight. RJ v Zito on Sunday.

Go, Diamondbacks!
