When Georgia linebacker Darius Dewberry was suspended earlier today by head coach Mark Richt, he became the sixth UGA football player to be suspended or dismissed from the team this offseason. Dewberry admitted to Richt that he was responsible for criminal damage at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, while two of his teammates, safety Donavon Baldwin and linebacker Marcus Dowtin were being treated at the hospital for injuries suffered in a bar room brawl on Saturday night. Baldwin was already due to serve a suspension for a DUI arrest in January. Dewberry will be suspended for the first two games of the season, and will miss games against Georgia Southern and Central Michigan.
Also long snapper Jeff Henson has been suspended as well for a second offense. Last December, Henson was charged with driving under the influence and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. This time around, Henson was nabbed on public intoxication and public urination charges.
Former Bulldog Michael Lemon, who was booted off the team last month after being hit with felony battery charges, was also involved in Saturday’s festivities.
Georgia began practice for their season opener today…it’s probably good that these rambunctious young men have an outlet for all that pent-up energy. They’ll be in Tempe to take on Arizona State on Saturday, September 20th, if they have enough players left on their roster to field a team at that point.

Don’t worry ASU fans, no critical starters will be on probation by week 3. Looking forward to a great game.
