One of the players to be named later in the deal that brought Adam Dunn to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday has been identified, and it’s second year pitcher Micah Owings. Owings is currently pitching for AAA Tucson after struggling with the Diamondbacks over the last couple of months.
Owings started the season 5-1, but had hit the skids as of late. His last win came May 25th in a 9-3 decision over the Atlanta Braves. In his 7 starts since then, Owings posted an 0-6 record with a 7.71 ERA. Owings has started 2 games in Tucson, both no decisions, and his ERA is 4.09.
According to AZCentral’s Nick Piecoro, the deal may not be finished until after the season, depending on Owings’ waiver availability.
