The Diamondbacks scored a combined 23 runs in their first two games against the Houston Astros, but were shut out today. The final score was 3-0. The blanking left starter Randy Johnson still sitting on 294 victories.
A couple of starts ago, the Pittsburgh Pirates shut out the D’Backs when their starter took a perfect game into the 8th inning.
How is RJ going to get to 300 this year with offensive performances like this?
As I write this, the Dodgers are in the bottom of the eighth, leading Milwaukee 5-1, in part due to You-Know-Who’s 6th homer in Dodger Blue. So unless the Brew Crew pulls off a big come back and holds it, there goes our division lead again.
I know…there is still plenty of time. That’s the good news. But it can also be the bad news. The Dodgers keep hanging around.
UPDATE: The Brewers tied it at 5 in the top of the ninth, but the Dodgers walked off on a 2-run homer by Andre Ethier. Doesn’t ANYBODY have a reliable bullpen?!
