Does anyone remember SlamBall, the quasi sport that used to be on Spike TV? Yes, I know. There are people asking three things: what is SlamBall, what does quasi mean and what is Spike TV? For the three of you who remember, congratulations, you made me feel like less of a loser.
SlamBall is back after a five year layoff, it seemed like a lifetime I know. The first games start next Monday August 25th. This incarnation will be televised on CBS, Versus, the home of anything that used to be on ESPN 2 before they got real sports, and on the internet at both Versus.com and Slamball.net. Evidently IMG Sports Media, the owners of SlamBall, and Commissioner Pat Croce couldn’t afford to buy out the counter strike fan website on Slamball.com.
CBS will air the championship series on Sunday, November 2nd following their NFL game of the week. The play-by-play booth will consist of Gus Johnson, Tom Tolbert and Amaré Stoudemire.
That’s right. Former UofA star Tom Tolbert Amare Stoudemire will be playing the role of color analyst for the game. (No joke here, it pretty much takes care of itself). It will be interesting to see what insight he can provide into guys jumping off trampolines to perform dunks that he can do without any aides.
Who knows, Amare’s involvement could mean that Phoenix is one of the cities being considered for their own SlamBall franchise for the 2009 season. We can only hope.

Hilarious… Amare as a TV analyst. I’ll put $50 on the fact that he’ll talk about himself more than the games.
Give him credit though; Do what you love, even if you suck at it. Lol.
OMG I loved Slamball well loved is past tense now I can say “I love Slamball” It’s a great physical game kind of like football meets b-ball o I missed it. Cant wait to catch it again!
