Another Webb Gem!

Brandon Webb won his 19th game of the year yesterday, as the Diamondbacks beat the Padres 4-1. He allowed only 3 hits in 7 shut out innings. He struck out 8 while walking three. The question now is not will Webb win 20, the gold standard of starters, but how many more than 20 he will win.

I’ll say now what I wouldn’t say a couple of weeks ago: When you look at Brandon Webb, you are looking at the 2008 NL Cy Young Award Winner. Yeah, Tim Lincecum of the Giants has struck out the world, and he’s second in the league in ERA. He’ll will the Cy Young…just not this year. Webb not only has more wins, but he has more important wins. He has been key to keeping the D’Backs in first place.

The D’Backs are now 2 up on the Dodgers and 7 games over .500. Let’s get some runs for RJ tonight, so that he can get No. 295!
