The Arizona Diamondbacks today acquired Wilfredo Ledezma, a 27-year old left-hander from the San Diego Padres. Ledezma was picked up on a waiver claim from the Padres.
Ledezma is now the only lefthander in the Diamondbacks’ bullpen, as Doug Slaten, who has held the role of left-handed relief specialist, is on the disabled list.
Ledezma is 15-22 lifetime with a 5.16 ERA for his career, and 0-2 this season with an ERA of 4.47. For a left-handed specialist, Ledezma hasn’t had too much success against lefty batters in his career, as they are hitting .291 against him, but only .240 against him this year. To put that in perspective, lefties only hit .237 against Chad Qualls, a right-hander, in his career.
In other D-Back news, rookie right hander Max Scherzer was called up from Triple-A Tucson.
